Nathan Menderson (April 25, 1820 Lichtenfels, Bavaria - March 31, 1904 Cincinnati, Ohio) was the president pro tem of the Cincinnati Red Stockings baseball team briefly in 1880, when Justus Thorner departed. Menderson owned one of the largest clothing stores in Cincinnati, and had been vice president of the team. * Menderson came to the U.S. in 1845 and amassed a fortune. He was renowned for his generosity and gentle habits. In the words of his obituary, he was "simple, kindly, loving both his family and his fellow man better than himself." He is buried in Cincinnati's United Jewish Cemetery, Walnut Hills. There's a photo of Menderson at the find a grave website. |
