The term Sayyid brothers refers to Syed Abdullah Khan and Syed Hassan Ali Khan Barha, who were powerful in the Mughal Empire during the early 18th century. * They claimed to belong to the family of Sayyids or the descendants of the Prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatima and son-in-law and cousin Ali who belonged to the Banu Hashim Clan of the Quraish Tribe. * The Sayyid Brothers became highly influential in the Mughal Court after Aurangzeb's death and became king makers during the anarchy following the death of emperor Aurangzeb in 1707.
